The Coral Art–Science Consortium is a nonprofit initiative led by scientists and artists dedicated to protecting coral reefs through storytelling, collaboration, and environmental awareness. Led by a diverse group of researchers and creatives, the consortium connects art and science to inspire ocean conservation.

“My fascination with coral reefs began as a child while diving in the Red Sea, where I was captivated by the vibrant, kaleidoscopic world hidden beneath the surface. That sense of wonder ultimately led me to become a coral reef scientist. Today, as reefs face unprecedented challenges, I believe that the combination of science, art, and imagination can inspire people to care, act, and create a future in which these extraordinary ecosystems continue to thrive for generations to come.”
“I was first drawn to coral reefs by their vibrant colors by day and their mesmerizing fluorescence by night. Over the years I discovered how complex these ecosystems are, how little we know about them, and the immense effect public engagement can have on their future. Photographing their glowing beauty showed me how powerful visual aesthetics can be in sparking curiosity, fostering empathy, and connecting my science with art.”
