Angell
Eliot Joanna Angell is a Savannah, Georgia–based artist working across ceramics, printmaking, and painting. Drawing inspiration from dreams, memory, and the feminine experience, her work explores themes of transformation, flight, and the relationship between the physical and the unseen. Through recurring forms such as dresses and birds, she creates poetic narratives that reflect resilience, identity, and the interconnected layers of human experience.
Angell earned a BA in English from Drew University and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Georgia, where she studied with Charles Morgan and Ron Meyers. Her work is held in numerous private and corporate collections and has been exhibited throughout the United States
As an educator in ceramics, printmaking, and foundations at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, Angell is deeply connected to the coastal landscapes of the Lowcountry. Her participation in coral conservation initiatives reflects a commitment to environmental stewardship, highlighting the beauty, fragility, and ecological importance of coral reef ecosystems. Through art, she helps foster awareness of the interconnected relationship between human communities and the marine environments that sustain them.
